Thomas HARRISON Obituary

"Dear sweet" husband to Carol Harrison of Petaluma; loving and loved son of Nancy Harrison, Santa Rosa and Bill Harrison, Windsor. Big brother to John and Andy Harrison and Bonnie Freeman of Santa Rosa, Jenny Harrison-Smith of New Jersey and anyone who needed his help. Dear step-son to Maisie McCarty of Windsor and step-brother to Abbey Wagner, Rocklin and Molly Rebuschatis, New York. A kind and caring uncle to Jerad Harrison of Santa Rosa, Ben and Rachel Harrison of New Hampshire and Andy Bingham of West Virginia. Tom was a graduate of Santa Rosa High School where he ran cross-country and track. An enthusiastic and contributing Friend of Bill W, he was for the past several years the ever-smiling "Paint Man" at Peterson's Paints in Petaluma. Carol has an appointment to meet him "in God's light at their special bridge." Maybe then we can all get together for another chaotic family gathering.

My memories are still fresh, and my feelings still raw. I think of Tom almost every day. He sits with me in the car when a song we enjoyed together plays, and he is with me when I visit my granddaughter. He is in my heart and made such an impression on my life, that I will always carry his goodness with me. My only hope is that I could be as good a woman one day, as he was a good man. Love you Tom. "Sail on, Silver Boy, sail on by:
Your time has come to fly, all your dreams are on your way.
See how they fly!
If you need a friend,
I'm sailing right behind,
like a bridge over troubled waters
I will ease your mind."
As your father says, we must move on, but we will always be sailing right behind you, in the Wake of Joy you left for us to follow. Doggie, the Boaz spiritual guide, salutes you.

That's it, Tom. Time to let go. I've not written here until now because this is just between us. I'm glad I was able to help you at times when you were lost, but you have always been a joy in my life and I found so much comfort in your growth as a man, a husband and a son. Thanks for all the good times (and the other times too)....dad

Tom, who was my first nephew and a great friend to my son, Robert Munir and a super kind and helpful person to me and everyone who knew him, may he be remembered forever. He was a wonderful husband to Carol, and a super handyman and he and Carol had an unbelievable good marriage. Both Carol and Tom outreached to all family members in an indescribable endearing way. I do not want to believe that he is gone but God and the Great Spirit decided that his purpose on earth was to be concluded. May when we all must transpire in our family may we gather together once more in the spirit world.

Tom's kindness and humor made the world a better place, and he will be greatly missed. To Carol, my step-dad and step-siblings: I know how much you are grieving and missing him, and I hope the sadness lessens every day and only the wonderful memories remain in its place. Love to all of you from all of us.

My love and condolences to all friends and family. I will miss you Tom. Your laugh and energy brightened the room and were incredibly infectious. Family gatherings over the years were full of laughter, food, and gag gifts. Those memories live on.

Tomas, birthday buddy and wonderful stepson-I will always hold on to the delightful image of you in the bright yellow Big Bird costume with your legs outstretched riding Abbey's first bicycle down the hill at Spring Lake to present it to her on her 7th birthday. You have been such a joy to know and love and I know that you are still and always with us.

As Tom's sister, I want to thank each and every one of you for writing a peice of Tom. If we took all of the writings and put them together it would say, "Tom was a man who put love before personalities. Tom was able to love and respect people as he was loved himself. He shared his hope and humour in such a special way, that made those he touched realize that they may be important. And, you all were in his eyes. He shared each experience with us, his family, and loved you all. He was more than a "paint guy" a "manager" a "cook" a brother and a son. He was an inspiration. So thank you to all of you who noticed. Those of you who have not noticed yet....one day you will. Love and Peace to all.

My husband and I were so very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Although we didn't know him personally, we knew him through Petersen's. He was always so gracious and kind to me, as I tried to find things, asked silly questions and needed guidance. He was a shining example of how we should treat eachother, whether they are known to us or not. Keeping your family in our prayers.

Carol, Nancy, Bill and all the cousins ( READ: Tom siblings ) and all other extended family/ in-laws, our condolences go out to you all. Though Tom ( I knew him as Tommy growing up ) left us waaaay too early what I'll hang onto is the precious memories from a simpler time when we were all kids. The holiday gatherings at Grammy and Malcolm's house on Le Roy Ave or with the Harrison clan on Wild Rose Dr. in Santa Rosa are particularly memorable. As Tom was the oldest of all the cousins, he was the first to get to visit uncle Bob, aunt Sherry and cousins Scott and Lisa in Hawaii in the summer of 71. I got to go in the summer of 72 and though I was then 10 years old and didn't quite understand the effort and sacrifice of our parents and also of uncle Bob and his family, I always felt a kinship with Tom because we both went on what was for us at the time, a pretty cool adventure. Though I've been out of contact with Tom I recently learned he was in a positive place with the most important person in his life Carol and that he was spiritually at peace. He was also doing well with his program and his job at Peterson's Paints. Tom's positive spirit and that infectious cheek-to-cheek smile will be forever remembered and forever in our hearts.

Tom, the first nephew I met from birth, was quickly named "TM" following the delightful photo of him created by Carol Baldwin, our neighbor in Berkeley. The loss to anyone who knew him is profound, but especially so for his immediate family and siblings, and none more than Carol. Like the loss of several famous warrior-trees in Yosemite recently, tears will be shed, that so loving and decent a person can have been taken from us all too soon.

My husband and I are saddened to hear of Tom's passing. Although we did not know him personally, we knew him professionally--he was our "go to" man for all information having to do with paint. Always professional, a pleasure to work with and very knowledgable, we were just talking about how we needed to go see Tom about paint. We will miss seeing him at the paint store; he really was the best. RIP. Our prayers to go to him, his wife & his family.
