Donna Marinelli Obituary

MARINELLI, DONNA MARIE (NERNEY)
Of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness. Donna was the caring daughter of Donald F. and Mary A. Nerney (Hanley), both now deceased, formerly of Providence. She was the loving and devoted wife for fifty-six years to Roger P. Marinelli of East Greenwich, and she was the cherished and loving Mom to her two sons, Michael P. Marinelli of Cranston and Jason R. Marinelli of Barrington, and their wives, Jacqueline S. Marinelli and Deborah R. Gold. She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Pepin of Cumberland and Karen Falco of Jacksonville, Florida. She was known as O'Grandma and Nonna to her four grandchildren, Michael P. Marinelli, Jr. of Cranston, Alexandra G., Emily G., and Thomas E. Marinelli of Barrington.
Donna was a school teacher for the City of Cranston where she taught second and third grade at George J. Peters Elementary School for thirty-five years. Her greatest joy was to spend time with her grandchildren at family functions and sporting events.

I was so sorry to hear about this from my mother. I have wonderful memories of growing up next door and our families spending time together. Your mother always had a smile on her face. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Our sincere condolences to the family of a dedicated teacher. Mrs. Marinelli was the 2nd grade teacher of two of my three boys, from 1987 to 1994 at George J. Peters School. She was strict but fair-minded with all of her students; a serious educator. I appreciate her efforts to help all of her students build a strong foundation in the formative years of their educations. May your precious memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.

So sad to hear about this. I spent so much time with your family back when I was young, playing basketball and making bonehead shots in your driveway. Your mom was great, and made the best lemonade! I am thinking good thoughts for you guys here in Chicago.

Mrs. Marinelli was a beautiful woman and a wonderful, dedicated teacher. I had her in third grade at West View School; long before it became Peter's. They don't make them like her anymore. RIP
