His surgical group, Toll Gate Surgical Associates, grew in number and included the late Dr. Peter Baute, Dr. Daniel Reardon, Dr. David Luz, Dr. John Isaac and his daughter Dr. Candace Dyer. The years roll by but such fond memories of all the Dyers remain as though it was yesterday on Beacon Ave. Caddying for the Doc and Natalie, grammar school and junior high with Sue and student teaching Debby at Warwick Vets are some of those many memories.

I often think about my days caddying for Doc Dyer and his wife on mixed scotch Sunday´s at Warwick Country Club. They were a joy to caddy for. I never dreamt that 40 years later I would be playing golf with him at Warwick when I made my first hole in one on the 9th hole. We had been talking about holes in one on the third hole and I asked him if he had made one. He said he made one while playing in Arizona years before. He asked me if I had made one and I said to him I had not and probably never would. Low and behold six holes later luck prevailed and I made my first.
Blessings to all the Dyers.

Dear Candy and family, so sorry for your loss but what an incredible life your father led. He was an exceptional individual in everything he did. He was a great friend and colleague to our dad, Gilbert Houston. They shared their incredible sense of humor together for years in hunting and fishing expeditions as well as in the professional world. He surely will be missed.
Sincerely,
The Houston Family

The many boating trips we made with Dick are some of my family’s greatest memories. One in particular stands out and is pertinent to his 100 years of life. We rented bicycles in Southwest Harbor in Maine maybe 15 yrs ago. Although most of us were peddling at a nice clip, Dick, at the young age off 85, was way out front us youngsters. We didn’t even catch up on the hills! Upon return to the boat, I asked Dick what his secrets to good health were. Aside from moderation on drink and steaks, he said, “You know, I’m like any other 85 yr old when I get out of bed. I don’t want to. I’m stiff and sore. But, I do it. I put both feet on the floor. Sit a while. I move around. Stretch as I wish. And I start my day. It’s better than the alternative!” Hence, at age 50 I received a valuable life lesson that is now starting to pay off. Just get started and enjoy it. Life is in attitude. I’ve even added steaks back to my menu.
