Jan is the most extraordinary artist and creator I have ever met. She is a very special person. Jan never failed to inquire about my daughter, Joni. I always felt that she genuinely cared about us. She always spoke highly of her niece and loved being an aunt to her. My most sincere condolences to all those who loved her and whom she loved in return. Peace to you, Mark. Rest peacefully, Jan.

Jan took me under her wing as I planned my proposal to study color around the world. I was *just* thinking of her a few minutes before I learned of her passing, I was thinking of her help in sharing potential contacts to study natural color in India. She was generous with knowledge and asked good questions. Her dedication to excellence in craft is legendary at RISD. Jan will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
