Richard Rose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home - Glastonbury on Dec. 10, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Richard R. Rose on December 9, 2025, at the age of 90, in Glastonbury, surrounded by his family. Richard was born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 25, 1935, to William and Anna (Miscolino), and attended the Rhode Island School for the Deaf, where he met his wife, Maureen (McDevitt), of 68 years.
It was a union that stood as a whole to unwavering devotion, strength, and commitment. Together, they built a family that was his greatest source of happiness. He was a proud father of five children, a grandfather of twelve grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren.
He left behind five children, Richard, Michael (Mary Jane), Sandra (Arthur) Larson, Debra (John) Hencker, and Noreen (Todd) Williams. He left behind twelve grandchildren, Rachel, Richard, Renate, Mali, Marisa, Erik, Jon, Zane, Tristan, Olivia, Derrick and Brittany. He left behind eleven great-grandchildren, Kiera, Olive, Savannah, Keegan, Bridget, Elizabeth, Michael, Brynn, Mason, Cillian and Goldyn.
A dedicated carpenter for many years, Richard took pride in his craftmanship, building homes filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. He approached his work with skill and a remarkable level of brilliance, often sharing his talents with his children and grandchildren – teaching not just a trade, but also the values of patience, creativity, and hard work. Besides carpentry, Richard loved cooking, especially Italian cuisine, which brought great joy to his family. He found solace on the water with his buddies, Allen Therrien and Gregory Keith whether through fishing or boating – hobbies that brought him comfort and a sense of connection throughout his life.
Known for bringing his family together, he filled every gathering with warmth, wisdom, and his unforgettable sense of humor.
He will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Moe and the Rose clan - Just wanted to touchbase a few that we shared together while we were at ASD and after our graduations until some years of not seeing each other that often that we used to . But the memories were powerful for me and I cherished them . Richard's Italian pizza on Fridays - everyone looked FORWARD to eating them especially for me, meeting at the beaches annually during the summer times at Lido, sharing the food and sweets, staying overnights often for their big parties or for fun without reasons. Tease - laugh- ALL THE TIMES. They were joyous with love for me and cherished every moment. I am not going to type a list of countless funs and mischievous activities among us ("the kids) We got a puppy from them and lived till 16+years old of her passing.... thank you for having me and my family a big part of your life.

Am thinking of you with love and hugs
Sue

My deepest condolences to Maureen, Richard, Micheal, Sandra, Debra and Noreen and the rest of your family. I will cherish the memories we all made way back when we were just kids and your dad and mine would get us altogether at Lido´s beach and have a great day. He always knew how to make us kids laugh. Sending you and your families prayers.
