LUZERNE — On Nov. 14, 2013, after a long battle with brain cancer, John J. Mulhern Jr. peacefully and beautifully passed away in his home, surrounded by family love and his favorite music.
John was born on Sept. 21, 1955, at Nesbitt Hospital in Kingston. John attended Dallas High School, class of 1973, Penn State University and various technical schools. John served in the U.S. Army as an E-4 specialist from 1975 to 1977. He was employed by Commonwealth Communication/Frontier in various position for 35 years.
John's hobbies included motorcycles, cooking and music (especially blues). John was a member of the Back Mountain Enduro Riders club for 15 years, where he met his second family and forever friends.
John will be tremendously missed by anyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John Joseph Mulhern Sr. and Elizabeth Callahan Mulhern; sister-in-law, Lori Ann Spayd Mulhern.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Patrice Holup Mulhern; children, Leigh Mulhern, adoptive son, Curtis Mulhern, Brittany Barchik Dunn and her husband, Michael, Rhayanin Barchik; brother, James Mulhern; sisters, Anne Lacy and her husband, Roger, and Elizabeth Smith; plus numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family especially thanks Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their unbelievable help.
