Charles Schwan Obituary

Charles A. Schwan April 30, 1939 - March 2, 2018 Poway Charles A. Schwan, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2018. His family and close friends were with him when he succumbed to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Charles was born in Pittsburgh, PA and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He went to Duquesne University, and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science and majoring in accounting.Charles was hired in 1964 by the accounting firm Arthur Anderson in Los Angeles. That same year, Charles and Helen were married on August 8.In 1971, Charles was hired by Cohu, Inc. as Treasurer and Vice President of Finance. In 1995, he became Executive Vice President & COO, and in 1996, President and CEO.He served as chairman of the board from 1999 to 2010 when he retired from Cohu.Charles enjoyed life. He loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends. His favorite saying was, "everything in moderation."Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; sons, David and Michael; daughter, Julie Blake; four grandchildren, Zachary Schwan, Katie, Abby and Jack Blake; sister, Jeannie Szarmach; sister-in-law, Theresa Schwan, Olga Shastal; and many nieces and nephews in California and Pittsburgh.The family would like to thank Oakmont of Escondido Hills for the care they provided Charles.Funeral services have been held.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's San Diego, 6632 Convoy St., San Diego, CA 92111. Sorry for your losss. He was a great man and loved by all. My brother and I will always have a special place in our hearts for the Schwan family. Both Mr. and Mrs Schwan treated us like their own kids growing up in RB
