Chester Mendyka Obituary
He was born in Waterbury, May 21, 1924, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine Bleharczyk Mendyka and was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
He is survived by his three sons, John Mendyka and his wife, Claudia, of Wallingford, Michael Mendyka, of Wallingford, and Steven Mendyka and his wife, Donna, of Texas; his six grandchildren, John Jr., and his wife, Brooke, stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army, Joseph and his wife, Alison, of Colorado, Jeffrey, of Wallingford, Patrick and his wife, Joan, of Texas, Christopher, of New Haven and Nicole, of Texas; his three great-grandchildren, John Luke, Sofie and Dominic; as well as many nieces and nephews.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Friday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Fatima Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:45 p.m. Interment will be private. Gifts in his memory may be sent to The American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045 or The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.

Dear Michael, Steven, and John, we are so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. Uncle Chet always treated us so wonderful and we have nothing but good memories of him.
Tom recalls as a youth the many times he was at your house playing board games and cards . Your dad would be working on his workbench , and his laugh. His laugh was most memorable ! He was just like an uncle to me and treated me so . I still have the wood wall hangings he hand- made for Christmas gifts and I think of him when I see them.
He surely is with your mom again now and may they both rest in peace . love and sympathy to you and all your family.

We will always remember Chester and his wonderful smile. He was so very proud of his family and loved to reminesce about his work years and how much he loved Joyce. God Bless you all you were so supportive and attentive to his needs. It was a pleasure to meet him and I enjoyed our talks so very much.
