I had heard, and seen, that name so many times during my almost 2 decades with the USGS. it was amazing and an honor to finally meet him a few months ago. I was shocked when he said he was 101 1/2 years old!
A life well-lived.

My sincere condolences to your family. May God "who comforts us in all our trials" (2 Cor 1:4) comfort you and your family at such a difficult time. I know God will help you to endure because he cares for you (1Peter 5 :7).

Truly a pleasure, just having met Mr. Eakin, but following in his footsteps throughout numerous remote valley's of Central Nevada in the pursuit of Hydrology. This was an honor.

I have been so blessed to count him among my friends. Listening to him share the stories of his travels and adventures is a gift I will always treasure. He is an example of a life well lived and I will miss him very much.

Nothing better than a great day at the beach
Leslie Hess
September 2, 2016
Wow, life won't be the same without him, but I strongly encourage everyone to really "celebrate" his life, as he would have encouraged all of us to do. I will so miss all the great talks we had, the life experiences he shared with us and taught us. Each time he came to visit, I became a better person for the life memories he shared, the compassion he showed, and funny stories he had from his past. He was a man that loved life, his family and friends, and a great glass of wine! We miss you Granddad but I promise you we toasted in your honor at the beach you loved to join us on.
Love Ya. Leslie

My Granddad was an amazing man! He visited us in Corpus Christi May, 2015 and I was able to take him out on the golf course. He pitched and putted, and at 100, was much better than me! I'll miss our conversations, and will always look back and admire his great stories.
