Cody Lee Vance

November 2, 1988

June 16, 2012

Cody Vance, 23, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, after an unexpected and tragic car accident. He was born November 2, 1988, the fifth child born to Bruce and Melinda Vance. He resided in Reno his entire life. He attended Spanish Springs High School and spent his time after school participating in football and wrestling. He continued his education earning his American Board of Opticians Certification. He most recently obtained his National Board of Contact Lens Certification and was preparing to complete his state Boards examination with the Nevada State Board of Opticians. Cody loved spending time with his family and friends. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, target shooting, and health and fitness. He was always looking out for others and was the glue that held everyone around him together. He will be missed by everyone he touched more than he would ever know. He is survived by his grandparents, Ellis and Lynn Vance, his parents, Bruce and Melinda Vance, sister, Genevie Vance, brothers, Derek, Kyle, Kory, and Jared Vance, and two nieces. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 23 at 12 pm at Mountain View Mortuary, in Reno, Nevada. To ease the financial burden from Cody's medical expenses, the Vance family would be gracious of any donations. Please contact Kyle or Kory Vance.

So sorry for your loss. I met Cody when he came on a day outing to Donner Lake with my son, Scott Tucker. He was a sweet boy. Scott and Cody drifted apart as friends, but Scott attended the service. We offer our prayers for your family.

I am so sorry. The accident was in our neighborhood and I want you to know that I prayed for Cody & his passenger in those early morning hours. My husband & I saw the car and I cried. The cross that was placed on that Sunday is very nice and I hope it brings your family some comfort.
