Eric Boomgarden Obituary
Eric Anthony Boomgarden, 56, died July 19, 2016. Eric was born in Rockford on November 22, 1959, the son of Richard Leslie Boomgarden and Nicolena Femminella. Eric was voted president of his high school class 3 years in a row, graduating from Guilford in 1978. He was very active in sports including football, hockey, wrestling, track and field, and especially golf. He had many talents and worked at times as a chef at Clock Tower, setting antenna towers, as an iron worker for Area Erectors, and laying tile floors with his dad and brothers. But he was most well known for teaching golf classes for nearly 30 years through RVC, the park district, and the Tiger Woods Foundation, as well as private lessons. Survivors include brothers, Scott (Suzi) and Adam (Valerie); nephews, Seth, Luke and Daniel; longtime girlfriend and life partner, Amilyn Skelton; and hundreds of friends. Predeceased by parents and nephew, Joshua.
Friends may join in a celebration of Eric's life at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in The American Lombardi Club, 209 Olive St., Rockford, and memorial visitation from 10 to 11:15 a.m., with Chaplain Joe Militello officiating. Eric work with me laying tile for a short time but during that time I always enjoyed our conversations. Always had funny jokes to tell and always was in a good mood. Just a great guy to be around. I will miss him. Jeff Linenfelser

Saddened to hear of Eric's passing . He was always kind to me with a compliment and a great big bear hug ! Would have a funny joke or comment to say. My prayers are with the family. May he rest in peace .
