ADELE GENEVIEVE HAYES, 83 PECATONICA - Adele Genevieve Hayes, 83, of Pecatonica died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, as the result of an automobile accident. Born Sept. 12, 1929, in Freeport, the daughter of Edgar and Genevieve (Norton) Kieckhaefer. Married LaVerne A. Hayes on July 10, 1978, in Freeport. She was employed as a school teacher by various school districts in Illinois and Wisconsin, and retired from the Rockford School District. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Pecatonica. She enjoyed teaching catechism, reciting the rosary at church, making rosaries and spending time with her family. Graduated from Aquin High School in Freeport, Class of 1947, and St. Clara Academy in Sinsinawa, Wis. Survivors include sister, Mary Joan Pfeil of Freeport; niece, Michele Stadermann of Freeport; nephews, Daniel Pfeil of Freeport and Thomas Pfeil of Minneapolis; and several great- nieces and -nephews. Predeceased by her parents. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in St. Mary Catholic Church, 126 W. Fifth St., Pecatonica, with Msgr. Robert Sweeney officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Freeport. Visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Countryman Funeral Home, 529 Washington St., Pecatonica, with a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
