Norma Ang Obituary

Norma L. Ang 1909—2017
Norma L. Ang, 107, of Rockford, passed away May 13, 2017. Born May 24, 1909, in Rockford, the daughter of August and Hulda (Peterson) Nelson. Norma married Wallace E. Ang December 14, 1934. Wallace died October 6, 1935, as a result of an airplane crash 10 months after their marriage. She was a graduate of Rockford Central High School, Rockford College and Graduate School of Library Science from the University of Illinois in 1950. Norma was employed as a Librarian at Roosevelt Junior High School for 25 years; she also worked at the Scripture Book Store for 7 years. She was a member of First Covenant Church where she was active in various areas. She is survived by 2 nephews, Richard Nelson and Wallace Gustafson, plus numerous great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; sisters, Genevieve Nelson, and Evelyn Gustafson, brother-in-law, Marvin Ang; sisters-in-law, Laverna Nyberg and Harriet Ang. The family would like to give a special thank you to PA Peterson and Heartland Hospice for generous and compassionate care given to Norma.
Private family interment will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Scandinavian Cemetery, followed by memorial service at 3 p.m. at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 316 Wood Rd., with Rev. Bertie Holmgren officiating. Memorials to Norma Ang Alaska Missions. Arrangements by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd.
