Timothy Brooks Obituary

Timothy Alden Brooks, 61, of Rutland died unexpectedly Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on October 7, 1954, in Randolph, the son of Alden and Loretta (Baker) Brooks.

Mr. Brooks attended the Spaulding High School in Barre. He was a longtime resident of Rutland where he was employed as a carpenter for several area companies, including Mark Balestra Building and Remodeling.

He enjoyed being outdoors, four-wheeling, camping, playing horseshoes, and loved history.

Timothy Brooks was a very opinionated man who was adamant in his ways and beliefs. He was always willing to "tell it like it is" even if he knew that you would take it offensively. Those who knew Tim were comfortable with this and knew that his bluntness was love. Tim had a personality that took some getting used to, as his arrogance would often catch you off guard and leave you speechless. His loved ones accepted his brutal honesty as caring and were accustomed to his attitude, expecting nothing less from him.

On the other hand, Tim was very supportive of those whom he cared for. He was strict, yet compassionate and was always there for those who needed him.

Tim had a very close friend, Bob Maikowski, who moved in right next door so that their shenanigans could be endless. Bob is an easygoing guy who enjoyed the amusing company that Tim provided. They had a very unique relationship, evidenced by mutually symbiotic, light-hearted verbal sparring. The two were inseparable.

Tim was recently thrilled to learn that his son, Brendan Brooks, has a baby on the way which is due in October. Tim was eager to be the best grandfather and to have his legacy live on.

Timothy Brooks was a one-of-a-kind man who was well-known in his community. He will be greatly missed by many people but never forgotten.

Survivors include a son, Brendan Brooks of Rutland; three brothers, Richard Brooks of Groton, Stephen Brooks of Rindge, N.H., and Jeffrey Brooks of Barre; his longtime friend, Bob Maikowski; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Dinkle and Betty Balestra, and a brother, Peter Brooks.

A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Downtown Bar & Grill at 42 Center St., Rutland, Vt., starting at 4 p.m.

Arrangements are with the Aldous Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
