Daniel Weber Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel R. Weber of Rancho Cordova passed away on 29 April 2018 from the effects of a short battle with cancer. He was 85 years old. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Ralph and Jane Weber of Cleveland on September 1, 1932. Preceded by his parents and sister, Nancy Jane. Survived by his lovely and supportive wife, Barbara Ann, his three sons Robert (Jodi) of Mililani, Hawaii, James (Katie) of Asheville, NC and Thomas (Chun) of Hickory, NC. He is also survived by his brother Roger of Temecula, Riverside County, as well as seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduated from Cleveland's John Marshall High School in 1950 and Kent State University in 1954. Commissioned as a second lieutenant in the USAF and attended pilot training. Stationed in Texas, Virginia, Kansas, Hawaii, California, England, Germany, and Vietnam. In 1974 Colonel Weber was transferred to Mather AFB, where he served as the base commander. Retired in 1981, after over 6,000 hours in aerial tankers and transports. He was active in the community, both while serving at Mather AFB and after retirement. His awards included the Distinguished Flying Cross, 12 Air Medals and other US and foreign awards He is a graduate of numerous USAF courses and schools including Air War College. He enjoyed his grandchildren, photography, and traveling. He and Barbara traveled extensively in the United States and overseas. Lt. Colonel Weber served two terms as president of the TAC Tankers Association. A funeral Mass will be held at St John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 10497 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova on Saturday, 5 May at 9:00 AM. Interment will be held at East Lawn Cemetery, 5757 Greenback Lane following the Mass. He will be laid to rest with U.S. Air Force honors in the Military Honors Section.
