Margaret Scott Obituary

It is with deep and sincere sadness that we report the passing of Mrs. Margaret Rose Scott, known to all as "Maggie." Maggie was born December 19, 1931 in Mobile, Alabama and went to heaven while at home on August 27, 2018 in Citrus Heights, California after courageously fighting Alzheimer's for seven years. Maggie graduated from the Convent of Mercy High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1951 and married the love of her life and best friend "Joe" in 1954. Maggie's entire life was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her petite body contained the heart and soul of a Saint. She was always the life of the party with her bubbly innocent personality. Maggie was a devoted Christian and her values and ethics resonated in every waking moment. She would light up the room with her presence. She always had something pleasant and encouraging to say and never had anything cross to say about anyone. Her family and friends thought of her as a true "Angel on Earth." She was loved and highly respected by all. Maggie's legacy will live on because of the lessons she taught us and by the example of the life she lived. Maggie was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Mabel McGowan her brothers: David, Edward, and Pat; sisters: Mabel, Elodie, and Angela; sons: Mike, Mack, and Brad. Maggie is survived by Joe (her husband of 63 years); brother: Martin; sisters: Ann and Kaky; son Joey (Debbie); daughters: Patsy, Mary Jo, Angie, and Rose (Billy); 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The rosary (9:15am) and a memorial mass (10am) will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Citrus Heights, California on September 5, 2018 followed by a reception at the church hall.

To my sweet mother there will never be anyone on this earth as sweet and kind as you. She had 8 children of her own that she raised along with about another 50 others of our friends that she watched over and took care of and she never complained. She always welcomed family and friends the more the merrier. She was always smiling and singing and had the greatest outlook no matter the situation. I was blessed to be able to call her my mother. I miss you and love you with all my heart. You were the glue that held us all together all these years. I miss you so very much!!

We were blessed to know Maggie through her daughter, Angie. What a special lady she was (as is the whole family). She will be missed and fondly remembered.

Saying goodbye to someone we love is heartbreaking. May there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.

Grandma, you were the most angelic person on this earth. You always gave me the best words of advise when I needed them. Thank you for teaching me family values and the importance of family traditions. I will continue them on as long as I am here on earth. I know you suffered the last few years of life and I prayed for you to have peace and be freed from the suffering. I am glad you are in heaven now and are singing and dancing with your sons. I am so blessed I was able to have you in my life for almost 39 years. I am going to miss you more than words can say, but I am happy you are not suffering. I have another angel to watch over Jeremiah and I. That is a full time job :) I love you Grandma

Aunt Margaret was a sweet, wonderful woman. As we lived on separate coasts most of my life I didn't get to see her very often but whenever I did she had a hug and a smile for me. She will be dearly missed.

A more kind hearted woman, you'll never see. A more devoted mother and wife, you will never know. Although she will be missed by many for a long time, those that think of her will do so with a smile.

Fare thee well Mrs. Scott, and tell Bradley that I said hello.
