Richard GILLESPIE Obituary
Sept. 1, 1936 - Jan 3, 2014
Born and raised in Sacramento. He was educated at Whitworth College, Spokane, WA, The San Francisco Theologial Seminary, and the Graduate Theological Union where he received a PhD in Medieval History. Richard taught church history at Duke University, Hastings College (Nebraska) and Carroll College (Wisconsin) as well as Tusculum College of Tenneesee.
He is survived by his companion, Louise Snyder; his four children, Melinda Gillespie and Walt Manaker, Jody and Todd Christiansen, Rebecca Gillespie, Richard and Lolin Gillespie; their mother, Carolyn Gillespie; and his sister, Daune Gillespie Mahy; as well as six grandchildren. Richard had a passion for social activism.
