Ronald Hermann Obituary

Dec. 23, 1934 - Jan. 9, 2016 Ron passed in peace at his home on January 9, 2016 at the age of 81. Ron was born in Auburn and raised in Sacramento. He was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Juanita and Edward Hermann, father, Bill Medeiros, and brother, Marty Hermann. Ron's talents were many and varied. He was a boxer, clown, mechanic, construction worker, truck driver, Sacramento reserve Police Officer, and tree trimmer. However, his true vocation came as a Sacramento Firefighter from which he retired. Ever active, after retirement he continued to operate his "Code 3 Catering" service. Youth baseball was one of Ron's passions. He served as a coach, field mgr., and president for River Park Little League. The Babe Ruth Org. was his next stop. Ron was instrumental in the construction of the baseball fields behind CSUS. He enjoyed the position of No. Cal. State Commissioner of B.R.B.B. for many years, overseeing tournaments in many states. Other Orgs. Ron belonged to that benefited from his volunteer work were the F.F. 10-7 club, Sacto. F.F. Burn Center, Pioneer Mutual Hook and Ladder Society, Newman Catholic Comm., F.F. Local 522, and Knights of Columbus. Even though his activities were numerous, family came first. Attendance at his children's functions and events was paramount. All major holidays were celebrated at "dad's house." Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bobbie, children Ron II, Mark, Matt, and Kathy, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mass followed by a reception will be held at 11am on Thursday, Jan 21 at the Newman Center, 5900 Newman Ct., Sacramento. Remembrances may be made in Ron's name to Firefighters Burn Institute, 3101 Stockton Bl., Sacto. 95820 or to the East Sacramento Babe Ruth at HTTP:// SACRAMENTO.SIPLAY.COM

Mr. Hermann was special for those of us who grew up in River Park. He was always willing to help with whatever project the kids of the neighborhood had going on. He was a caring man who will be sorely missed, with his legacy being one of involvement with and caring about kids. What a wonderful example he set! Rest in peace ...

Wonderful neighbor! I'll always remember my sidewalk chats with Ron as we watched my husband catch pitches from my step children in the street between our homes. Rest in Peace.

So Sorry to hear of Ron's passing - he was a rock for (East) Sacramento Babe Ruth and has helped keep baseball alive in Sacramento for years. You gave effortlessly and without want or credit Mr Hermann and I thank you for all who have benefited from your big heart! Matt, the bar is set high but you have been taught life by one of the best. You were a GREAT MAN Ron.

Ron, great guy, great family; loyal and a friend; besides love of CBS, we had the fire dept in common since my dad and brother were both San Francisco firemen. Ron, you will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Once a year during crab feed season, Ron would show up at Wholesale Cash & Carry with a hot vat of his famous clam chowder. What a treat and way to warm up in the cold warehouse setting. That was Ron, so kind and so thoughtful. He loved doing things for other people and groups.
I was sorry to read of his passing and offer my condolences to all of his family.
So long Ronyou were a good man.
