John Mauney Obituary
SALISBURY - John William Mauney Sr., 94, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Feb. 16, 1918, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Wilma Madison Mauney and Marvin D. Mauney.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Mauney owned and operated Super Service Cleaners for 50 years.
He was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School and was a member of the church council for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Dorothy Plyler Mauney; his brother, Walter Mauney; and sister Josephine Locke.
Survivors include his son, John William Mauney, Jr. and wife Brenda; a grandson, Brandon Mauney and wife Morgan; granddaughter Amanda Pitman and husband Gabe, all of Salisbury; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1908 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury.
Service: 11 a.m. following the visitation at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Don Phillips officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the church columbarium.

I would like to express my condolences to the family. My mother, Arlene Hampton, worked for Mr. Mauney for about 15 years at Super Service Cleaners. He was a good boss and a good man. My mother just loved him.
