Fagin Lourenzie Mauney, age 85, departed this earthly world and entered into his eternal home on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Diversicare Nursing Home in
Ripley, Mississippi.
Services honoring Mr. Fagin's life are pending at this time and will be announced once arrangements have been completed. His family humbly requests your continued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Born on December 3, 1940, in Tippah County, Mr. Fagin was the son of the late Donald L. Mauney and Gwen Heavner. He received his education from Pine Grove High School and began his working career in the factory industry before dedicating many faithful years as a truck driver, a profession that suited his strong work ethic and independent spirit. A proud patriot, Mr. Fagin honorably served his country in the United States Air Force, where he formed a special bond with his faithful service dog who remained by his side.
In September of 1995, he married the love of his life, Mrs. Mary Clement Mauney, who survives. Together, they shared a life built on love, faith, and simple joys that brought them closer with each passing year.
A devoted Christian and faithful member of Saint Matthew Catholic Church, Mr. Fagin lived his life guided by his unwavering faith. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, where he found both fellowship and purpose in serving his church and community.
In his earlier years, when his health allowed, Mr. Fagin found great joy in the outdoors. Whether it was casting a line while fishing, tending to his garden, or staying active with walks at the gym, he appreciated life's simple pleasures. As time went on, his favorite place became his front porch-a place where he could sit, reflect, and enjoy the company of neighbors and friends passing by. Known for his warm spirit and easy conversation, he never met a stranger and always made others feel welcome.
Above all, Mr. Fagin cherished his family. He deeply valued time spent together, especially the moments shared visiting with his son, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength he leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. While his presence will be missed beyond measure, there is comfort in knowing he has been reunited with loved ones gone before and now rests peacefully in the arms of his Savior.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." - Matthew 25:23
In addition to his wife of twenty-nine years, Mrs. Mary, memories will continue to be cherished by his son, Lee Mauney, his sisters, Annette Clark, Tammie Williams (Ricky), Pam Loveless (George), and Connie Moore (Sammy), his brothers, Benny Mauney (Jessie), and Tony Hargett, his stepsons, Brian Charles Watson (Jennifer), Shaun Edward Watson, John K. Watson, and Joseph C. Watson (Jennifer), and his sister in law, Lucy Mendez, along with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Donna Mauney, one stepson, Adam T. Watson, and one brother-in-law, Carl Clement.
