Nathan Short Obituary

June 7, 1993 ~ Sept 9, 2012
Our beloved son, baby brother and uncle, Natey Wayne, came into our lives unexpectedly and left unexpectedly. He was killed in a rollover accident outside of Las Vegas on Sept 9, 2012. He was just 19.
He is survived by his parents, Mel and Vicki Short, his siblings Jennifer Pearson (Adon), Tim Short (Jamie), Zac Short (Che), Mandy Richards (Christian), Adrianna Bergk (Josh), and Jacob Short (Amanda), as well as 15 nieces and nephews that adored him and that he adored. Taya, his oldest niece, was more like a sister to Nate as she is only 4 years younger. She loved having a "hot" uncle. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by all of his grandparents.
Nate was a priest in the LDS church and an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Brighton High School with honors in 2011. He attended one year of school at Dixie State.
Nate loved all sports, but his first love was basketball. He spent more hours than can be counted playing b-ball with his dad, brothers and friends. He enjoyed the many activities we did as a family such as boating, camping, waterskiing, snowskiing and travelling. He especially loved to play with his many nieces and nephews. Nate had more friends in his short 19 years than most of us have in a lifetime...many of which he called "my best friend".
We will miss Nates gorgeous face, his sense of humor and his big, tender heart. Our hearts are broken, and there are many ends left untied, but we are comforted to know that families are forever.
A viewing will be held in Nates honor on Sunday evening, Sept 16th, from 6 - 9 p.m. at the Sandy Granite Stake Center 2535 E. Newcastle Drive (9040 So). The funeral will he held Monday, Sept 17th, at 12:00 noon in the same chapel. Pre-service viewing from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial in Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. Online condolences:www.larkincares.com

Vicki & Mel: There aren't words to describe how broken our hearts are for you and your whole family. I know how very much Nate meant to you, and how excited you were when he came so unexpectedly into your family. How blessed you are to have known him and to have loved him for his short time here on earth. I know you must desperately miss him, as will everyone who knew him from what I've read. He sounds like an amazing kid. We'll pray for you to find the comfort you need at this time.
