Hans De Haas Obituary
Hans De Haas 1949 ~ 2003 Hans De Haas age 54 of Norco, California passed away while he was visiting with family in Utah. His death was the result of complications from a brain stem stroke that he had suffered from since October of 2000. Hans was born on February 22, 1949 in Utrecht, Netherlands to John De Haas and Cornalia "Cory" Johanna Standaar. Hans came to the United States in 1953. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His conviction to the gospel was very evident by his unwavering faith in being a home teacher and give service to those in need. Hans was noted for being very honest and discerning in all of his actions. Hans met and married Linda LaRae Richmond, September 10, 1994 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they developed an eternal bond of love and respect for each other, Linda was his true love and together they shared their dreams. Both Hans and Linda have resided in Narco, California for the past eight years were Hans worked in Investigation Services. Hans was a very patriotic person and chose to served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war as a Green Beret - Special Forces and later the CIA, also he retired as the Chief of Police for the City of Draper to later become a Senior Special Investigator for he Kemper Insurance Company. Hans enjoyed the privileges of being a member of the Karate Hall of Fame and co-founder of the 9th Degree Black Belt in the International Shuri-Shin-Do-Ryu Karate Federation also black belts in Judo, Aikido, and Goju-Ryu. Hans owned his own private investigative practice for over 14 years and was proud of being a bodyguard for a few high profile celebrities during this time, some of his more noted client were John Wayne and Linda Evans. He also loved playing the guitar and singing with his rich full bass voice that was instilled in him by is father. His grandchildren admired the way that he could rhyme words to make up songs for them as he told a story through his singing. Hans enjoyed training horses and he had a great love for his own two horses - Goliath and Midnight of which he has cared for and loved over the past seven years Survived by his wife; Linda, children; Brett, Kyle, Gavin, Derek, Sonya, Bud, Brooke, Sonja, Adam, Michael, Heidi and Amberlie, 23 grandchildren, sisters; Cory Nebbeling and Beppy Robbs, brother; John De Haas and Joe De Haas. Preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers a trust has been established for the Hans De Haas Family Fund Wells Fargo Bank, where memorial contributions may be made. Graveside Services will be held for Hans on Wednesday August 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, located at 400 North "N" Street in Salt Lake City Services are being held under the direction of the Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East American Fork, Utah
