Henry Wahrmund Obituary
Mr. Henry O. (Hank) Wahrmund, Jr., 79, died on May 29, 2002 at the Kruse Memorial Village Hospice in Brenham, TX following a brief illness. Hank was a resident of Houston, TX for more than 30 years and had moved to Chappell Hill, TX in 1987 following the death of his wife of 42 years, Tena McLaran Wahrmund. Hank was born in San Antonio, TX on November 29, 1922. He was a graduate of the A&M College of Texas, Class of '44 and served his country as a Lieutenant in World War II as a member of "A'' Battery, 604th Battalion, 10th Mountain Division. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Wahrmund and a sister, Sue Moore, all of San Antonio, TX. Survivors include his brother, William O. (Bill) Wahrmund of San Antonio, TX; his four children, Tena Hehn and her husband Greg of DeSoto, TX; Judy Chamberlain and her husband Clif of Irving, TX; Honi Boudreaux and her husband Glen of Humble, TX, and Henry O. (Hank) Wahrmund, III and his life partner Dennis LaCaze of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Glen Hehn and wife Joanna of Mildenhall, U.K., Martha Chamberlain Durham and her husband Jonathan, Houston, TX, Richard Chamberlain, College Station, TX, Elizabeth Boudreaux, Houston, TX, Frank Bourdreaux, New York City, NY, John Henry Boudreaux, New Orleans, LA. Hank was an avid golfer, lettering in golf at A&M, where he proudly served in the Corps of Cadets in "A'' Battery, Field Artillery. His love for A&M continued throughout his life. He was a longtime member of the Century Club of the A&M Former Students Association, the 12th Man Foundation and the Houston A&M Club, serving as President of the latter organization in 1983. He was a Harris County Master Gardener who loved raising bushels of vegetables, most of which he gave away to friends and co-workers. He was a member of the Magic Circle Toastmasters in Houston, Treasurer of the Brenham Country Club Men's Golf Association and a member of the Brenham Presbyterian Church. Hank's children wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sue Engstrom of Round Top, TX for her devoted and compassionate care given to their father following a stroke he suffered in 1996. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at the Brenham Presbyterian Church, 900 South Jackson St., Brenham, TX 77833 with the Reverend Brad Munroe officiating. Following the Service, the family invites Hank's friends to visit with them in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Hank's name to either the Capital Campaign of the Brenham Presbyterian Church or to the Corps of Cadets Visitors Center at Texas A&M University. Donations for the latter should be mailed to the TAMU Foundation, Texas A&M University-Mail Stop 1400, College Station, TX 77843-1400, specifying the memorial is for the Sanders Corps Visitor Center.
