Resident of Santa Cruz
Tony passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 3 at the age of 91. Tony was born July 4, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky. He and his family moved to the Davenport Coast Road area when he was 1½ years old. He attended local schools and upon graduation from Santa Cruz High School he joined his father's farming operation known as F. Franceschini & Son. Tony retired after 41 years of farming in the North Coast area.
Tony had two great loves in his live, his family and traveling. He traveled for both business and pleasure mostly accompanied by his wife, Della and sometimes with his son, Rick. Tony traveled extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Upon his retirement, Tony and Della fulfilled his long time dream to travel around the world.
Tony was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Druids, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Loyal Order of Elks. He was a member of the Marconi Club, Sons of Italy, and the Italian Catholic Federation. He enjoyed a membership in the Forty Thieves for a period of eighteen years. For many years he also enjoyed the Aldo Pennimen, "Mangiamo Ancora" feeds.
Tony is survived by Della, his beloved wife of 68 years, daughter Vicki and her husband, Brian of Antioch, son, Rick of San Diego, grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Jennifer of Renton, Washington, Daniel and his wife, Kelly of Brentwood, California, Laura and her husband, Christopher of Denver, Colorado, and 5 great grandchildren, Janea, Emma, Hailey, Madeline, and Owen. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Francesco and Annunciata (Rossi) Franceschini, his sister, Rita Giannandrea and nephew, Michael Giannandrea.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to long time caregivers Maria and Celeni and Hospice of Santa Cruz County.
Per Tony's request there will be no services. You may remember Tony with a gift to Hospice of Santa Cruz County or to your favorite charity, or "Con un bella bottiglia di vino".
