When I was very young, and just becoming interested in photography, I picked up Delicacies at a museum book store. It was the first book to ever really inspire me to become a photographer, and step into art. It is a book that I still pull from the shelf often. It has always been an inspiration in its simplicity of classic still life and how art is just part of life and being.

Ron and I never met. However at one point in my career I somehow found an e-mail address for Ron and we exchanged a few e-mails. It was a real treat, and a fulfillment. It's nine years after his death. But I still have that book on the shelf. I still acknowledge him as a major inspiration in the work I am still able to produce. Thank you Ron.

Ron was a consummate artist, as a painter and a photographer as well as in the way he cooked, spoke and laughed. He loved art, he loved history and he brought them together in a unique interpretation all his own. See you later, Ron. Your life was your art!

I just learned of Ron's passing from the Oneonta alumni newsletter and am so saddened by his loss. I knew him in college, participated in a small way with photos in "Delicacies" in the 70s. We remained friends into the 80s. We then lost touch but made contact again briefly this spring. Ron was an exceptional talent. I treasure my collection of his photos, his recipe for chocolate cake, and the memory of his flamenco playing that long ago made me weak in the knees. A good, talented man has been lost too soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ron. We were college friends at Oneonta and had many a great time together. He loved everything about life and tried to capture it in his music and photographs. It's true- life is too short- And now he's gone.

Rest in Peace my friend.

I miss you Ron

August 14, 2013

I just got the sad news from the Museum der Moderne in Salzbourg/Austria. I am very shocked about. I owned the photo gallery Die Bruecke in Vienna (1970-1978). In 1973 Ron had a one person exhibition of photographs at the Viennese Secession that had ever held there. Sucessfuly! He loved good pastry, cooking and photographed a series of pictures at the famous confectioner's shop "Heiner" in Vienna, exhibited many times. Van Deren Coke was enthusiastic about when he visited Vienna in 1975. Ron's pictures are in the collection Fotografis in Salzbourg. - He was an extremely charming man. I am sure that many people will miss him and so do I. Anna Auer in Vienna.
