Rollie Grandbois Obituary

ROLLIE ANTHONY GRANDBOIS Rollie Anthony Grandbois, September 8, 1954 May 5, 2016 Rollie, age 61, departed on his journey to be with the ancestors on May 5, 2016. Rollie Grandbois, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many. Rollie was born on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in Belcourt, North Dakota. Rollie served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, 1973-1978. Rollie moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1979 and graduated from the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1983. Rollie was a world renowned artist and had been creating exceptional sculpture for over 35 years. Rollie is survived by his son, Kody Lee Keplin (Pamela), and daughter, Shayna Rose Grandbois (Lucas). Grandchildren Hailey, Kaylee, and Kendall. Sisters Judy Grandbois (Tom), Dorothy Grandbois, Donna Grandbois, Bonnie Peterson (Scott) and Kim Crosby Korynta. Brothers David Grandbois, Steve Grandbois, Jeff Grandbois and Ray Crosby. Rollie will be missed dearly by his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rollie is preceded in death by his father Eugene, mother Louise Crosby, and niece Valene Poitra. Rollie was a very caring and giving man who loved life to the fullest, and with a great love for his family and friends. His humor and gentle presence will be missed by all. The Celebration of Life will be at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in the Kathyrn O'Keefe Theater with a reception in the Meems Auditorium on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. (710 Camino Lejo, off Old Santa Fe Trail). May he journey in peace and his spirit fly high with the eagles.

Dear Family of Rollie,
The American Legion Post 75 and community of Jemez Springs, NM miss our dear brother and friend, Rollie.
We loved his artwork, sense of humor and friendship!
Post 75 will include honoring him in our Post Everlasting Ceremony on May 30, 2016 at noon in Jemez Springs with a reception to follow.
We hope you can be there.
