Dear Peter Paul, This is terribly belated, but I just saw this. I am very sorry to hear of your father´s passing. I was a very good friend of your mother´s in art school and remember when she and your father met. I also remember when he sold what I think was his first portrait to a family in Lawrence or Lowell, MA. Carol, Paul and I went to a special dinner at the owner´s house, where the uncle snuck into the kitchen with a huge pan of home made spinach pie for the celebration. Carol and I even spent a summer together working in the Catskills after our first year at the Museum School. A strange adventure, that, but in retrospect fun. We laughed a lot at the time. I also visited and spent some time with them when you lived in California and were a baby. They had bartered art work for the fridge as I remember and had a beautiful "forest" of bamboo in the front. I eventually ended up on a small volcanic Caribbean island for thirty years and your folks moved to NM. I´m now 86, and back in the States, but don´t seem to look or feel it. Your parents were a wonderful couple and Carol was a dear friend, with a lovely sense of humor. She knew me as Joan in those days, but that was my middle name and the one I preferred. In moving to another country, it was better to use my legal first name, so I now use Harriet. I have some beautiful memories of your parents, though I was closer to Carol. My belated condolences to you, but I know they live on in you and your family. It´s always nice I hope, belated or not, to hear from others who shared a love for your loved ones.

Dear Peter,
I've just learned of your father's passing. It touches me deeply as he was very close to my father Bert and to my husband Herb Stott, both of whom are gone now. I have sweet memories of your mother and father and would love to hear from you. Best regards,
Merry

A recent trip to Albuquerque put me in front of a painting of a scrapbook with a newspaper clipping. I realized upon examination of the newspaper portion that I was in the presence of a level of artistic genius so rare I had nothing to compare it to. I will continue to speak of this experience for the rest of my life.

Peter & family, please accept my condolences. When I think about art and artists in S.Fe your father always comes to mind, and always brings a smile.
