Annetta Haack

Santa Maria -Annetta May Morton Haack passed away at home in
Santa Maria, CA on June 19, 2025.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She entertained friends and family with gusto, love, her incredible cooking and wit. She was a teacher, a leader and a role model. She will be missed dearly.
Annetta was born on July 15, 1927 in Omaha, NE to Samuel Linn Morton & Margaret Annetta (Moore) Morton.
She grew up on farms in Iowa & Nebraska, graduating from high school in Tekamah, NE in 1945. She was a true farmgirl, helping with the garden and chores, including milking the cows before heading to school. There were times she rode her horse to school. During her high school years, she frequently played the piano in her church.
After graduation she taught in a one room country school from 1945-1946 to earn money for college. She attended Doane College in Crete, NE, graduating in 1950. She then taught school in Cozad, NE for 1 year.
She married Robert Ralph Haack in 1951 at Riverside Baptist Church in Tekamah, NE, then settled in Omaha, NE, where their 4 children were born.
After many years in Omaha & Des Moines, IA, she & Bob moved to Rio Verde, AZ in 1988, where they led a very active and busy life. Annetta moved to
Santa Maria, CA in 2022 to be closer to family.
Activities: Volunteer activities related to children (Sunday School teacher, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, Room Mother etc.); docent at Henry Doorly Zoo & Fontanelle Forest in Omaha, Nebraska Women's Golf Board- 6 yrs; Co-owner/Manager of Mid States Travel Agency, Omaha; member of P.E.O. & D.A.R; involved with computer activities in Rio Verde, including teaching classes; golfing and bridge; member of Church of the Verdes. She also was a licensed instrument-rated private pilot, and an active member of the Ninety-Nines for many years. Many family trips were taken with Annetta and Bob transporting their family in their private plane.
Preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Robert R. Haack, who passed away in 2021, and her brothers Samuel Morton and Daniel Morton.
Survived by 4 children: Jeannine Stoddard (James), Bradley Haack (Maureen), Karl Haack (Rose), Valerie Thomas (Scott) & daughter in law Deb French (Jack), 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, and sister Rachel Thorsen.
Services will be on Monday, July 14th at 11:00AM, at Crosspointe Church, 1265 W. McCoy Ln,
Santa Maria, CA. Interment will be in the Memory Garden at the Community Church of the Verdes in Rio Verde, AZ on October 25th.
