Margot Tulin Obituary

MARGOT EDYTHE TULIN SARATOGA SPRINGS- Margot Edythe (Greenman) Tulin passed away peacfully on Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2011 at St. Peters Health Care Services Hospital in Albany. Margot was born on August 30, 1926 in New York City. She spent her childhood and her youth with her family at 892 Westminster Road in Woodmere, NY. After attending Woodmere Academy and Ursinus College, Margot graduated from New York University with a degree in Elementary Education. During World War II, she volunteered in a nursing service. After the war, while traveling on a train, she met Robert Tulin who also lived in Woodmere. Margot and Bob were married August 24, 1948, on her Aunt Mildred Slifka's lawn in Sutton Park. In the early Fifties, Margot gave birth to three boys, Peter, Alan, and Steven. She interrupted her teaching career until her boys had all completed elementary school. In 1955, Margot and her family moved from New York to New Jersey when her grandfather's Manufacturing Company moved from Varick Street in Manhattan to Clifton, New Jersey. After serving for many years as the director of the Creative Arts Group of Essex County, Margot returned to teaching, specializing in providing remedial reading instruction in Inner City locations. About 25 years ago, Margot and Bob moved to Saratoga Springs. She enthusiastically participated in all of the wonderful activities that are available in Saratoga Springs and the surrounding areas. She was a very proud grandmother. She enjoyed weaving her life with the lives of her grandchildren, Charles Tulin and Sarah Tulin. Margot was predeceased by her father, Charles Greenman and her mother, Helen (Rosenberg) Greenman. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in- law, Nan and Mervyn Dorfman and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Marshall Tulin. Margot is survived by her husband, Bob Tulin of Saratoga Springs; her sons, Peter Tulin of Saratoga Springs, Alan Tulin of Jersey City and Dr. Steven Tulin of Washington D.C.; Her grandchildren, Charles Tulin of Saratoga Springs and Corporal Sarah Tulin of Tel Aviv, Israel; her brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Brenda Greenman; her friends, Sue DeGrasse and Jean Tulin, Many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; her wonderful close friends in Saratoga Springs, New York, Florida, and New Jersy; her devoted and loving new friends at Our Lady Of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, Anne, Stephanie, Kudjo, Sharon; her ally, mentor and confidant, Karla; her dining partner Clara Migden; and her two pups, Zeus and Moby. A memorial service celebrating Margot's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday June 27, 2011 at William J. Burke & Sons, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Margot will be buried in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville
