James Jenkins Obituary

James Douglas "Doug" Jenkins - SARDIS - James Douglas "Doug" Jenkins, 78, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at University Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1931 in Screven County, Georgia to the late John James Jenkins and Alabelle Forehand Jenkins. He was a life-long employee of DuPont as an electronics specialist. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His membership included the Masonic Alex Lodge #385 and the Shrine Savannah Alee Temple. He also served as a past president of the Sardis Jaycees and was a member of Sardis Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Norman-Jenkins; his son, James Douglas Jenkins, Jr. (Brenda); his daughter, Ginger Boyd; his two brothers, Daniel B. Jenkins and Ted Jenkins; his three grandchildren, James D. Jenkins, Christopher Jenkins, and Andrew Boyd; and one great-grandson, Jake Jenkins. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at DeLoach Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Sardis United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Sirmons and Rev. Karen Zeigler officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909 or Special Olympics Georgia, 4000 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Suite 400, Building 400, Atlanta, GA 30340.
