Mary Murphy Obituary
Mrs. Murphy was born in Portsmouth, N.H., on August 1, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Doody.
She is survived by two daughters, Judith A. Ball of Gulfport, Miss., and Joan M. O'Toole and husband Michael, of Point Venture, Texas; five grandchildren, Lisa Durlacher and husband Robert, David Ball, Christopher O'Toole and wife Julie, Jennifer Folzenlogen and husband Robert, and Matthew O'Toole and wife Cyndi; ten great grandchildren, Madeleine Durlacher, Ailey, Keegan, Devin, Aidan and Garrett O'Toole, Josie and Jonathan Folzenlogen, and Owen and Jack O'Toole. She is also survived by her niece, Geraldine Whittenhall of Tiverton, R.I., and son's Wayne, Charles, Jonathan and Christopher Whittenhall.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Jani Smith.
Mrs. Murphy was fortunate to be able to live at home until the time of her passing. Her family is extremely grateful to Valerie Hefler and Darlene Matthews for being such wonderful and supportive longtime caregivers. The family is also thankful to Age Quest, Atlantic Homelife and Brookhaven Hospice for their involvement during the last six months.
SERVICES: A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2016, at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jani Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund, Department of Music, Paul Creative Arts Center, 30 Academic Way, University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH 03824.
