James Truitt Obituary

James L. Truitt

James L. Truitt, born June 11, 1956 passed away February 7, 2017 after a ten year battle with brain cancer. Born in Tampa, Florida, Jim was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and Denver, Colorado. He moved to Seattle in 1983, joining E.F. Hutton where he began a long career in finance. Due to his illness, he retired from Bernstein in early 2009 spending time enjoying his favorite people and pastimes - family, friends, music, pipe collecting, and golf! Jim is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Walters Truitt, his three sons and two daughters-in-law, James (Ruchika), Reid (Ai-Li) and Jack Truitt. He is survived by his mother, Christine Truitt and two brothers, Stan (Kim) and Bob (Claudette) Truitt; his "sister" Pam (Bob) Eshelman and brother-in-law, Adam (Janice) Walters. He had fourteen nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Jim was blessed with many friends and treasured the time he spent laughing with them in good times and bad. Jim's sense of humor and his ability to laugh at himself supported him faithfully throughout his battle. Treatment was never easy nor did it ever abate; he endured one form of treatment or another for nearly the duration of his illness.

Jim's life will be celebrated on March 18, 2017 at Sand Point Country Club, 11 o'clock in the morning. Remembrances in his honor can be made to Treehouse or The Kindering Center or to your favorite charity. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at UWMC for his terrific care, especially Carrie Graham and Mary Crivell who laughed with us and gave us hope.
