Richard S. EUSTIS, III Rick Eustis died on March 9, 2005. Rick was born on February 25, 1950 in Seattle to Richard S. Eustis, Jr. and Lenore M. Eustis, who both pre-deceased him. He is survived by his two brothers, Jeff and Howard, their families and many friends. Rick was raised in Bellevue, attended Highland Elementary, Highland Junior High and Interlake High School, from which he graduated in 1969. Except for several years spent in Cambria, California during the mid 1970's, Rick spent his life on the Eastside. Rick worked well with his hands, as a guitar player, a furniture refinisher, a mechanic and a jeweler. He enjoyed building things: musical instruments, motorbikes, engines, jewelry, and practically anything else. Rick never stopped tinkering and inventing. He was restoring an El Camino and he left concepts for an electric bicycle and an "air walk", on which people could walk, suspended on a cushion of air. His talents were evident at an early age. His idea of a neat present was not something new, but something used, something that he could take apart, figure out, and put back together again, like an old alarm clock, an outboard motor, or an old car. In recent years, Rick recalled fondly the times with friends and family, sessions jamming with other musicians, summertime travels with family, projects with his father, various collections compiled with the help of his mother and outings with his brothers. Those were Rick's happiest times. Rick had enormous sensitivities. He related well to others. His endearing nature prompted others to lend him a hand. And it is that bond that joins his survivors. A Memorial Service will be held for Rick at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20th in the Chapel at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 84th Ave NE and NE 12th Street in Medina. Remembrances may be sent to Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, 425 Pontius Ave. N., Ste. 300, Seattle, 98109.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Rick was a good friend throughout our high school years, and we shared many classes together. He was always thoughtful and kind and genuinely enjoyed engaging with people of any age. He would swing by my house and we´d take a ride in the Morris Minor he´d be driving. Such a dear friend and I´m sorry he passed away so young. I will always remember him, his warm smile and kind, sensitive self.
