I will never forget a rainy cold October night in 1966 when Ken came to my dorm room in Hill Hall to encourage me through a particularly rough time. This act of caring shaped my life in terms of how I respond to the needs of others. I am grateful for having known him. David Arnold

In all my coaching career, if I ever had a problem that needed some help I could contact Ken and always get his help. In fact one time he was on his way to the Olympic Games in Korea and called me from the airport while waiting for his flight to give me some needed information.

Dear Denise, I am so sorry to have missed this final farewell for Ken but I will always remember as the coach who, one rainy night in Seattle 1966, came to my dorm room in Hill Hall (4th floor)to sit and visit with me as a way of encouraging me through a very rough time. These small and silent gestures toward many of us meant more than anything. I am glad you were able to spend this part of your life with him and glad for him that you were his partner in so many adventures. I was able to hold his hand at the Hall of Fame gathering a while back and say thank you to him for so much. Take care and blessings on your journey from here on...

Dad and Kenny met while they were in the Coast guard during World War Ii. Kenny was Dad's oldest friend, and one of his dearest. I'm so glad Kenny was able to join Dad for his 100th birthday celebration at Mount Rainier last June. That moment when the two old friends clasped hands again was one of the highlights of the celebration.
My sincere condolences to Kenny's family and all his many friends. He will not be forgotten.

I'm so glad Ken and his wife were able to join Dad for his 100th birthday celebration last June at Mount Rainier. To the Family: It was a pleasure to call Ken a friend and I felt very lucky to have been able to work with him also. So sorry for your loss but so happy to have shared some years knowing and working with a wonderful and inspiring man. I send my love to you all at this time.

Dear Denise and Family,
I am so blessed to have met Ken and the times I spent with him in Hawaii gave me an inside look at this wonderful guy. One memory was when he was a spry 90 years old, Pam and I found him digging in the back yard for a leak and we suggested that he call someone to help, but oh no, he said that he was more than capable of doing this task. So we went and bought a bottle of wine and at sunset toasted to Ken's success and a beautiful sky.
May the Lord Bless you and his family and bring you peace.
Love, Lynn Lewis
