David Formo Obituary

David Anton Formo

Age 76 passed away in his home in Bellevue, WA on March 20, 2017 after an 18 month journey with pancreatic cancer. His wife and two children were at his side.

Born in Langdon, ND to Belvidere and Miles Formo, David spent his school years in Wheaton, Il. In the summers he worked on the family farm in ND and always considered himself "just a farm boy". Majoring in business he received his BS from Miami University, was in the Navel ROTC and a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. David worked in Denver for International Harvester where he managed all dealers In northern CO. In 1970 he moved to Seattle to be national sales manager of Formost Packaging Machines. It was there that he met and married his wife Susan.

From 1981 through 1989 as the Director of Camp Nor'Wester on Lopez Island, WA. David influenced the lives of close to 400 campers ages 9-16 and a staff of 90 each summer. His final career was in boating where he proudly represented Camano Marine as their west coast dealer, selling well over 100 of the popular little trawlers.

Retiring in 2009 David happily spent his time with his growing family in WA, at his home in Sun City, AZ, and cruising aboard his boat, Anegada. The highlight of years of boating was a 100 day cruise with Susan in 2013 exploring the inside passage up to Juneau, Alaska.

David's passion was building and repairing, from irrigation systems in AZ to complex mechanical systems aboard Anegada. He loved the challenge of figuring out how to fix just about anything. He was the "go to" guy for his family and friends whenever anything was broken. He was genius.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather (Bubba) and a kind-hearted gentleman of integrity. He was a humble man whose smile, sense of humor and positive attitude were infectious. He traveled through his cancer journey with grace and humor. He will be incredibly missed by his wife of 44 years, Susan Formo; daughter Jen Chambers (Troy); son Jason Formo (Lauren) and his 5 grandchildren Colby (9), Mason (6) and Kenzie (2) Chambers; Dylan (5) and Brynn (2) Formo and many wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on May 21, 2017 at The Seattle Yacht Club, Seattle.
