Larry Gadler Obituary

Larry Patrick Gadler

Larry Patrick Gadler, aged 71, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Born in Nebraska September 2, 1947 to Joseph and Julia Gadler, his family moved to Marysville, WA in 1952 where he graduated from Marysville High School in 1966.

Larry was a professional musician. At 15 he began playing banjo in a folk singing group that toured the Northwest Hootenanny Circuit. Soon after, he found his niche as a bass player and vocalist, playing with Pacific NW rock & roll bands. He moved to Nashville in 1979 and from there toured throughout the United States, Europe and Africa for notable Nashville recording artists. He performed on the Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits, Hee Haw, and Nashville Now.

In 1987, Larry made a critical life changing decision to walk away from the bottle by joining Alcoholics Anonymous. This is truly where his love of life began. He dedicated a large part of his journey to listening and coaching others who suffered themselves. He lived his life by example proudly carrying a 32 year chip when he died.

In 1995, while working as a musician for Carnival Cruise Lines Larry met the love of his life, April Clucas Breslin. They were married on October 12, 1995 and settled in Orange, California with April's young son Nicholas. Larry continued to perform with country bands in the Anaheim area, opening his own recording studio Rattlesnake Tracks, and managing April's business Coffee Cats Pottery. In 1997 he was named California Bass Player of the Year. He loved life and people, a loyal friend offering inspiration and guidance to those around him.

Larry is survived by his wife April Gadler of Orange, CA; son Chris Gadler, daughter Leah McWilliams, son Nicholas Breslin, granddaughters Ciara & Cassi Gadler, brother Daniel Gadler, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

Just found this out and I'm heart broken. Haven't seen him in many years. I worked at the General Store where Larry and the TJ Bonner band played night after night for audiences who loved this band and the amazing voice of Larry's. I just found the tape he gave me of the bands music when I left Washington and was playing it. Still love the music! My condolences to the family and friends. - Betty (Belcher) Griffen

Hi Larry, my Dear long time friend. I am so sad you had to leave before your time. I miss you more than you can know. We had our differences but... You were always just a phone call away when I needed to talk to someone I knew cared about me. Always kind and thoughtful. And you could do anything. Besides youre musical talents you could build things, understood electronics. Anything that caught your interest you did well. A quick study you were. And until you taught me how to use a computer, you were my google. Great memory for facts. And a good teacher!
Back in the Day we had a lot of crazy times, fun times... and some painful times. Experiences to learn and grow from.
And now we are here at Goodbye.
I cant believe you are gone.
You are loved and you wont be forgotten.
RIP Sweet Angel You Did Good

And you were the best teacher!

Hi Larry, You were an A#1 brother-in-law. I love the memory of our long conversations and your guided tours of all things electronically amazing. I loved your ability to think critically and intelligently and the amazing recall of factual knowledge you had about many things. Of course there was that incredibly sharp and subtle sense of humor.

Most of all I love how good you were for our family and especially for April and Nick.

You are surely and sorely missed.

I haven't seen Larry since we were in high school together more than 50 years ago, but I remember him well. Reading about his life here and elsewhere it seems to me that he made the most of his - we should all be so fortunate. Rest in peace, Larry.

Hi there, it is me your great niece. I'm sorry we did not get to see each other much. I have always loved the song After All, I listened to it again recently and it felt like it had a new meaning. I hope you are resting easy and doing whatever your heart desires. Just know you were loved dearly and missed by many.

To my Uncle Larry, words cannot express how strange it is to me that you have left this world. My faith helps me, as I've prayed to Grandma and Grandpa that you are together and watching over us. From the earliest of ages our family celebrated music, and for me you were at the heart of that. I played the cassette tapes of you singing 1000 times over and knew every word. Being such a good girl I would not repeat any cuss words (at least not when anyone could hear me). I am forever grateful for the gifts you gave me, I sing out loud whenever I get the chance. Lately I have been singing your songs and am reminded how much I love listening to your voice, so strong and confident. Thank you for being a part of my life, I feel like you were taken too soon and I wish I could tell you in person how much you mean to me. Much love, your youngest niece Theresa

hey bro, I just finished a message to you and somehow disappeared. I was saying how we just spent a couple of days with April looking at old movies and color slides of when we were growing up. These last few years we're really great with the talks we had understanding oh we both really felt about each other. We had such misunderstandings. I admired you enormously, always watch you when you were on TV. I never figured I would be writing in your remembrance book you were always in such good shape. I figured I would be the one to go first. I miss you and think of you everyday. Say hi to the folks for me, I will see you again. Love, your brother Dan

Hey bro, we just spent a couple of days down here with April talking and looking at old movies and slides of the folks and you and me when we were growing up. You had a real gold mine of film right up till we were in our mid teens. Great memories. I can feel your presence, you are on my mind pretty much all the time. I never figured I would be writing in your remembrance book, you were always in such good physical condition. I honestly believed I would be the one t o go first. I miss you, and those great talks that we had these last few years. We each carried such a large misunderstanding of what the other thought. I think it really strengthened the bond between us. Although I still think Dad liked you best. Say hi to the folks, I will see you again. Love, your brother Dan.

IN READING Larrys obituary I discovered how little I actually knew about his life.My connection was through the band we were in "1976" man that was 43 years ago. I did see him a few times when he came up to visit family and friends. I was certainly not surprised to read of his musical accomplishments as he was a top notch bass player. My prayers for his family and Friends in this sad time."Rest in peace Larry."
