" My name is Don Colgate from Napier, New Zealand .
I first came across a very long piece of rolled paper I was given by a friend entitled : " Theroretical Synthesis of Reality Systems " by Edward M. Maher ( 1971 ) , way back in the 1980's . I STILL refer to it up till the present : 2024 ).
IF it is the work of this same person, I would PERSONALLY call Edward a : " an INTELLECTUAL GENIUS ". His work : " Theroretical Synthesis of Reality Systems " is second to none.
I have two (2 ) University degrees , yet have never seen any research references or books or articles which " come even close " to contain the precision and " grace " of Edward's writing.
His " LEGACY " lives in my " SOUL AND SPIRIT ."
As I said, I never meet him personally but I " certainly WISH I had .
Truly a " TITAN "---and I never usually use that word.
I HOPE some of his " brain's, SPIRIT and SOUL "------Lives on in his ' Surviving Family .'
Don Colgate.

Although it's been more than 40 years since we last met, Ed's death has saddened me greatly. He lived in a remote, abandoned farmhouse on Great Barrier Island, 60 miles off the coast from Auckland NZ, where he was my nearest neighbour.
Ed was a giant amongst men in every sphere of his life, yet never played the holier-than-thou card. In fact, he willingly taught those of us who wanted to learn many of the life skills he'd honed so meticulously over his remarkable career: art, music, mechanics, cooking, ad infinitum.
Ed is remembered fondly and respectfully (albeit too briefly) in my memoir "Why Me?", which is available online at Amazon.com.au.

Ed was one of the classiest, most generous people I have had the pleasure to work with. Thru a decade with a faculty who featured leaders in varying fields Ed stands out as the delightful catalyst for curiosity and deep learning. The world is a poorer place for the lack of Ed.
