William Hoem Obituary

William Andrew Hoem

November 2, 1937 - May 19, 2017

William Andrew Hoem passed away peacefully at his home on May 19 at the age of 79. The son of Andrew Hoem and Phyllis Hoem, Bill was born in San Francisco, CA on November 2, 1937 and graduated from Balboa High School where he met the love of his life, Deanna, whom he affectionately referred to as "my bride" & "toots". Bill and Deanna just recently celebrated their 60th anniversary as husband & wife in a long and fruitful marriage.
A loving father, Bill is survived by his children, Russell Hoem (Sue) and Lori Mitchell (Joe). A dear brother, Bill is survived by his brother Larry Hoem (Erna), and his sisters Nancy Coon (Tyler), and Karen Hall.
A loving grandfather and great-grandfather, Bill is survived by five grand-children: Paul, Joey, Gary, Mark and Jenna, two great-grandchildren: Emma and Mila, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A long-time resident of South San Francisco and Millbrae, Bill began his career as a member of Flooring Union Local #12 as an employee of Peterson & Cobby and later was the proud co-owner of Hoem & Associates, Inc. until his retirement in 1997. Quite the handyman, Bill thoroughly enjoyed his home-improvement projects.
A member of the Verdi Club, Bill enjoyed traveling with Deanna and their friends, visits with family, and loved sports. In particular, Bill enjoyed golf, baseball and cheering on his San Francisco 49ers.
Affectionately known as "Sweet William", Bill possessed an infectious and distinct laugh that brought smiles to those who were close to him. Beyond all else, Bill had a big heart and loved his family and friends dearly.
A Celebration of Life Mass is planned for Thursday, May 25 at 11:00 am at St. Dunstan's church in Millbrae. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Dear Deanna,Russ,Lori,and family,

My sincere condolences for your your loss. I remember Bill and all of you from South City, and Pine Grove during the summers many years ago.

I recall joking with Bill when he came into Brentwood Market so long ago as we had a few good laughs which made the day so much better

God Bless all of you,

We enjoyed your friendship through the years since 1992 and all the wonderful get togethers with our families. You have a beautiful devoted wife and loving children . Your memory of having a good Old Fashion or two will remain with us. Now you are at peace, no more pain and suffering. May God Bless you with Eternal Life.

Hi Deanna-
I was so sad to read about Sweet Willie. You both were so kind and I always enjoyed seeing the both of you when he came in to see Dr. Hazelrig. I am in Oregon now, but I still keep in touch with our patients. Please let me know if I can do anything. Thank you for always taking such good care of Bill.

He was the steady hand and rock of the family and a good brother in law to me under all circumstances. To me the best of him is how he treated "his bride", my sister. What a wonderful marriage they both deserved. Sleep well "Uncle Bill". You suffered enough. My memories of good times with you will remain with me forever.
