I first became aware of Dave Carpender through the British tv programme Old Grey Whistle Test and also his fabulous guitar work on the Greg Kihn Band album Next of Kihn back in the late seventies. I became a firm fan of the band and Dave´s playing, and was very sad to hear of his demise. RIP Dave, your great guitar playing will live on and you´ll always be Remembered!

I still have very fond memories of my years at UC Berkeley (1980-84) when I would catch the Greg Kihn Band for one of their many free concerts at noon in lower Sproul Plaza...fantastic tight band, and being a guitar player, I was always impressed with the beautiful solos Dave would craft on his instrument. I wish his friends and family the best as they try to come to terms with this untimely loss. And I will put on "Remember" and recall the joy his music has given me. Thanks Dave!

I saw this notice in the Chronicle today. Made me think of cutting school to see the Greg Kihn Band at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco! My sympathies go out to Dave's close friends and family. Know that he's part of a lot of people's happy memories of simpler times; I hope that gives you some comfort.
