Elsie Yamamoto Obituary

Elsie Misao Yamamoto

April 16,1923 - November 16,2017

Elsie Misao Yamamoto died peacefully at her South San Francisco home on November 16, 2017 at the age of 94.
Born April 16, 1923 in Honolulu to parents Shizu Yoshino and Sagoro Fujioka, Elsie moved to San Francisco in 1953 with her former husband George and their two sons, Michael and Craig. While raising her family Elsie also pursued a long career with the federal government concluding with her job as administrative officer for the Regional Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. During retirement Elsie continued to enjoy her friendships with former co-workers and made new friends through her love of playing bridge, eventually attaining the rank of "life master."
In 1984, Elsie met Floyd Hobbs on a blind lunch date arranged by her daughter-in-law, Victoria Rodriguez. They were together ever since. Elsie and Floyd loved to play bridge, traveled throughout the West and Hawaii, and spent many happy days at Harrah's Lake Tahoe and Cache Creek casino playing blackjack. Elsie loved games and cards and enjoyed swimming, golf and reading the New York Times cover to cover. She had a bright lively mind, loved her family and was optimistic and generous. She will be greatly missed.
Elsie is survived by her partner Floyd Hobbs, sons Michael Yamamoto (Martha) and Craig Yamamoto, grandchildren Helen Yamamoto, Craig "JR" Yamamoto, Chloe Fiske, Kelly Fiske, sister Helen Nishie and many other friends and relatives.
In keeping with Elsie's wishes interment will be private.
