I tried putting a message and a picture here several days ago, but it apparently only the picture got published, so here's a second try at a message. Win, after 3 decades, to squeeze it all into a paragraph is hardly fair. You were such an enlightened leader - you allowed us to fail without penalty, and in so doing, you allowed us to succeed. You encouraged us to spread our gifts to the entire world, and by gosh we did. We became the greatest of friends, and I will always remember the warmth and pleasure of your company.

My father, Winsor's first cousin, always spoke so highly of Winsor as a bright and kind man. I never had the pleasure to meet Winsor which was my great loss. My condolences to his wife, children and grand children.

I would like to send my sincere sympathy to the family, on behalf or ours the Andrew Downey Orricks. My mother Marjorie Hamilton Soule, had a father named Augustus, and brothers named Augustus Jr. Winsor and Richard. Richard is still living in a retirement home in New Hampshire. Could you update me on the relationship? I have sent this announcement on to my cousins, Uncle Gus and Uncle Dick kids. Again my deepest sympathy to all.

I had the pleasure of working in a cube right outside Win's office for several years in Walnut Creek. His insights into our work and wit about life in general were always enjoyable and enlightening. He was a good man who I'm glad to have known.

I thank Win for invigorating chats during many good lunches -- and that great little British Racing Green MGB led me to buy a Miata years later (but with an air horn, to avoid hood damage such as Win had from a backing up truck one day. . .) I applaud a fine colleague and a good guide both in work and life.
