35, of San Francisco was tragically killed at Holly Park in Bernal Heights on Thursday, September 5. She had been relaxing in the grass with her baby daughter and dog when she was struck by a Parks and Recreation truck. Neither the child nor pet was injured.
Despite valiant and sophisticated medical interventions she was pronounced dead at San Francisco General Hospital.
Christy was full of brilliance, passion and kindness. Those who knew her say it was impossible not to be moved by her. She was an ordained Zen priest, a practitioner of Big Mind, and a student of the Ridhwan School. Her spiritual work was evident in how deeply she loved and cared for others.
Christy was the Director of Development and a faculty member at New Ventures West, a coach training school dedicated to easing suffering in the world. She was central to the organization's mission and spent ten years guiding people into their life's calling.
The central joy of her life was her family: 11-month-old daughter Isa and husband Vegar. She is also survived by her parents, George and Holly Moses of Morgantown, West Virginia; her sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Chad Kanick of Lebanon, New Hampshire; and the Flaherty family of San Francisco.
In addition to her family, Christy's legacy resides in the thousands who benefited from her friendship, guidance, and love.
A fund has been set up to help Christy's family transition to life without her. Contributions can be made at: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/christy-svanemyr-family-fund. Superfluous funds from this campaign will be donated to a children's charity, in memory of Christy.

I haven't seen Christy in years, but went to high school with her at Morgantown High School. She seems to have continued being an amazing, loving and kind-hearted person helping everyone in her path. I'll always remember her free spirit and that huge smile. My families thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Frank and I are still reeling from this tragic news. I think i might have been the one to enroll her in NVW, then mentored her through the PCC, recruited her for her job there, coached her when she was ready to start her practice and spent many terrific non-work times together once she moved out to SF the first go-round. We had drifted apart logistically over the years but never in our hearts and I was so happy to run into her a few times last year. The last time i saw her she was very pregnant- glowingly beautiful and out at the Hardly Strictly fest- grooving on the music and people and LIFE. A beautiful old soul surrounded by the light of love and compassion and passion for life that touched everyone with the great good fortune to meet or know her. Proof of heaven is a small comfort in contemplating the reality of her being off the planet so tragically, suddenly and irrevocably. My beautiful "little sister" you live forever in my heart.
