Steve died peacefully in his sleep in Amarillo, TX with his wife, Kalena at his side, on his return from his favorite cross-country motorcycle ride, the Run for the Wall. He had been diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer four years ago. Born in Berkeley CA, to and Hank and Alice Yee, Steve was a proud graduate of Berkeley High School (class of '67), UC Berkeley (class of '71) and earned an MBA from Golden Gate University in 1977. He retired after a long career in the Tax Department at PG&E in 2004 and spent his retirement years traveling to Hawai'i, motorcycling the US and bicycling (he was a former professional racer) with his like-minded buddies in Pokeslows. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I found riding with Steve as part of the Fuel Team was always a pleasure and Honor! My wife Roxy and I were always impressed by Steve's willingness without hesitation to help a fellow rider, help with assorted tasks, or just be a friend. Many times we shred quite stories about 'age', family and purpose. Occasionally even talked a little smack about bikes.... Quiet as though he may have been, focused he always was. Roxy and I will forever remember the dedicated spirit Steve had about being part of the RFTW Team. He exemplified a true American Patriot!

I will always remember the first time I met Steve. I introduced myself and told him our mutual friend Terry Peterson said I was to take special care of him and mentor him in the ways of the fuel crew. Steve was always quiet and unassuming but, never failed to be wherever he was needed. Always a volunteer for anything extra we might have to do. He was a true patriot and I will miss him dearly.

We rode with Steve for four years on the RFTW Fuel Team. It was always good to talk to him. He always had something good to say in his own quiet way. I told him many times it was a pleasure to ride behind him, he was sooo smooth. He will be missed by one and all.
Rest in peace my friend.

I met Steve in 2016 on the RFTW fuel team.
Over the years we talked about a myriad of things including bicycling, motorcycles and more.
Steve was a kind and gentle person and a super Patriot.
I am so blessed to have known him and honored to be his Friend.
Rest in Peace my Friend. You will be missed.
