Coach Rudd was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. His way of coaching from back in '64 at Airline is still a part of my life today. In addition to being a great player's coach, he was also a fantastic biology teacher. (I loved it that he assigned me two beautiful lab partners.) Coach also possessed a certain patience that surprises me to this day. He was one of those that set an example that we should all aspire to.

I hope to be a great teacher and coach as you were and have an impact on the next generation as you did. Rest in peace! Prayers for the family are being sent.

Coach Rudd was the BEST Biology Teacher and Coach I ever knew. He will be greatly missed.

Karla Dowling Hardaway

May 2, 2013

I knew Coach Rudd first as my biology teacher at Bossier High School. Later he and I would actually teacher together for a brief time at Bossier when I became a teacher. Then I became his neighbor for 23 years.

One day right after my husband and I separated, I was trying to start the lawn mower. I had never started the mower before and couldn't start it. I began to cry and asked God to help me. A few minutes later Max showed up on his riding mower and began to cut my grass. All I could do was cry as I watched him and thank God. He continued to cut my grass for the next two years until I moved out.

Max gave me fresh peaches from his tree and shared many ideas about teaching across the fence. He bandaged my son's deeply cut foot one night when I wasn't home. He always had a kind word and a smile. He loved his family. He was a beautiful, Christian man. He will be greatly missed.
So sorry for your loss.
