David McFadden

JACKSONVILLE, IL - David John McFadden, 56, passed away Monday afternoon, May 19, 2014, at his residence in rural Jacksonville.

He was born Sept. 15, 1957, in Jacksonville, the son of John J. and Evelyn L. Wenthe McFadden and lived in Cracker's Bend on Poor Man's Lane his entire life.

He is survived by one brother, Philip (wife, Carol) McFadden of Springfield; one sister, Ruth (husband, Bruce) Engebrecht of Jacksonville; two nephews, Jacob Louis McFadden and Joseph Alan Engebrecht, both of Springfield; and one niece, Elizabeth Ashley Engebrecht of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David had worked at Gee Equipment, Welbourne Electric, Hunsley Farm Supply, Capitol Records/EMI, Beard Implement in Arenzville and most recently at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville as a Licensed Practical Nurse. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. He was an avid collector and enjoyed working on small engines. He served on the Arcadia Cemetery Board and was active with the Jacksonville Theatre Guild.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Arcadia Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church.

David was a dear friend from the time I met him working on a play at the Jacksonville Theatre Guild. He was willing to help whenever I needed him. His good humor and caring nature will be sorely missed.
