ROBIN MILES BLAU

Robin Miles Blau, passed away at his home in Bellingham late in the evening of March 23, 2017.

Born to Mark and Leona Blau on September 8, 1976, Robin joined a family of four older siblings.

He grew up on Samish Island, where he enjoyed the beautiful beaches, his cousins living close by, and his grandparents, Bud and Elisabeth Blau. He spent his boyhood exploring Samish Island's forests, rocky outcroppings and tide pools.

Robin went to Allen Elementary for most of his elementary years, and made many friends there. He also attended Burlington-Edison High School, where he wrestled and practiced to be an incredible skateboarder.

Robin loved to travel, and would often hitchhike to Rainbow gatherins, and once as far as Southern Mexico. It was after one of these trips that he became very ill, and learned he was a Type I diabetic. He would struggle with this disease until his death.

Robin was a man of many talents. He was a good artist, using several mediums. He created jewelry and hemp wearables and enjoyed blowing glass. He was really good at nurturing various plants, and would save just about any houseplant he was given. He also enjoyed his pets, including a cat that ate oysters daily, and Lady, his foundling dog, who loved to accompany him on his shorter journeys.

Robin is survived by his father, step-mother, and nine siblings: Tom Brawford, Wendy Holdal, Chris Holdal, Ian (Kaoko) Albright, Louisa Albright (Thurman), Matthew Albright, Christina (Jim) Kurschner, Elisabeth Albright (Scott), Piper Albright (Rhodes) and Thomas Blau; aunt Suzanne Blau Taylor, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Green, older brother Joseph Brawford, uncle John Blau and all his grandparents.

A special gathering will be held on his birthday at the public beach on Wharf Street, September 8th at 3PM. An announcement will be posted in August.
