I got the call from my good friend Noni. First thing I said was what everyone will always remember about our "Bumpy". He always had a smile and was a good natured chap who liked to have a good time.Bumpy was one of many guys like Russell Santos, Butch & Buddy Ramos, Bobby Grace, Wayne Ramos, "Gunther" Perry, Lenny Rocha, Tony Esteves, Paul Alves, Vinnie Mello ,John Pinto and more, who have known each other and been good buddies for 50 years (WOW). To his family, take solace in knowing he was "one of us".Rest in Eternal Peace. Bobby Gonsalves, So. Dennis,Cape Cod, Mass.

I knew "Tony" through his work at the New Bedford Global Learning Charter School, where my wife Linda is a teacher. Tony always went out of his way to help, and was always courteous, friendly, and full of good humor. He cared about the little things, like making sure Linda's classroom door was unlocked in the morning before her arrival so she wouldn't have to struggle with keys while juggling bags and gear. And if she ever needed anything he was able to provide, he did so with enthusiasm and good cheer.
The world is diminished by his passing.

Linda, Anthony, Kaya:
Sorry I can't come up from New Orleans for the funeral. I knew Bumpy from childhood & was happy to become his step-sister later in life. He was always a great guy.

I had just finish my daily walk around the park heading home when I saw Bumpy, this past friday around the back of the school looking up at the sky taking, what look like a well deserved break. We both saw each other at the same time, but he responded first "hi Noni how you doing" with a smile.I could tell that He enjoyed his job.I stated back " same old same old Bumpy hows things with you" He looked at me smiled again and said "not bad not bad all" I`m only sorry our meeting that day hadn`t been long and not just in passing,as the years move on a childhood friendship should become more than just an 'hello goodby'it should be of memories and the good times gone by. like those with Bumpy.
