HYANNIS -- Vaughn S. Avedian, 65, of W. Barnstable, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the husband of Sheila (Johnson) Avedian for 47 yrs.
Born in Worcester, Ma., son of Vaughn and Esther (Defino) Avedian. A graduate of St. John's High School, he earned Master's Degrees from both Worcester State College and Syracuse University, he also attended Harvard University. As a professional he gave his life to education.
He was an avid golfer and a member of Old Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Course, Vaughn was also a USGA Golf Rater in which he rated local golf courses for the USGA. As a golfer he had 3 holes in one, including 2 in one round. He loved gardening, working around the house, but most of all, he loved family. He had been living on Cape Cod for the past 20 yrs. Vaughn retired from the Fairhaven School System as a teacher.
He was the father of V. Stephen of Union, NJ and John D., of N. Yarmouth, Me.; brother of Richard of Spencer, David of Milford, William of Worcester, Stephanie Rice of Auburn, Andrea Sullivan of Framingham, Helene Lynch of Shrewsbury, and Frances Howard of Worcester.
Visiting hours in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Rte. 28) on Fri., Sept. 22 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 S. Main St., Centerville on Sat. at 10 AM. Mem Cont. may be made to the Vaughn S. Avedian Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 1265, Centerville, Ma. 02632.

I am extremely upset over his passing. He was nothing but a great Uncle, and his knowledge will always be remebered. Please accept my sincere condolences. I am sorry I couldn't make it out East for the services. Love you all!

I am deeply saddened to learn of Vaughn's passing. I have many fond memories of working with him at both Mountain and West Orange High Schools.
He was truly a devoted educator.
