Barbara Lang Obituary

Barbara J. (Wilson) Lang, age 72, of Weymouth, died accidentally on February 17, while vacationing on Easter Island, Chile. Beloved wife of David A. Lang, Barbara was a devoted mother to David Lang and his wife Tracey of Rockland and Kristina Canniff and her husband Keith of Pembroke. She was especially close to her 6 dear grandchildren: Riley, Madison, and Owen Lang, and Kate, Gillian and Lauren Canniff. She is also survived by her sisters Merle Kennedy and her husband Barry of Georgia and their granddaughter Alicia, and Lorraine Costello and her husband Redmond of Dedham and their children Redmond and Brett. Born and raised in Boston, Barbara raised her family in Weymouth, where she owned and operated the Dance On dance studio for over 20 years, and operated a Jazzercise franchise for over 30 years. Barbara had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and experience and a desire to share that with her friends and family, which she did through international travel with her beloved husband, and frequent physical activity with friends, children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and especially the water, whether it be kayaking with her friends on the Back River, snorkeling in New Hampshire lakes, or exploring Cape Cod tidal pools with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly remembered by her friends and family for these passions and for her love of family. A funeral Mass will be held for Barbara on Saturday, April 2, at 10:30 at Immaculate Conception church on 720 Broad St., Weymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Barbaras memory to the charity of your choice.

Dear Dave, David, Krissy, and Family,

We remember so well Barbara's kindness to everyone, her love for life, and her vitality! She was so much fun at Sverdrup when she danced! Barbara made everyone feel like they were her good friend. She made you feel welcome. We cannot even imagine your loss and are so sorry. She will be terribly missed by so many people, especially of course her dear family, who meant more to her than anyone. But Barbara lived life so well - that is her gift to all of us. God bless.

Love, Paul and Colleen

Dear Chrissy and family,
My mother and I were so very saddened to hear of the tremendous loss of your mother.
I loved taking dance and kinder gym with her at the Weymouth YMCA, and I remember your mom letting me participate in my mother's class. She always gave me extra stickers and told me that she would be right next to me when I was afraid to go on the trampoline.
As I grew older, my memories of her go to seeing her so often at Mass at Immaculate. She always held her hymnal and looked so peaceful at church. After Mass, my mother and I would always talk to her, and she would beam as she talked about you, your children and your brother and his children.
Our hearts break for you all. We pray that your happy memories of her will start to replace the sorrow and grief you are all feeling. She would want you to remember her with a smile and with happiness--she would hug away those tears.
May God's love shine down on you and lift your spirits--knowing she is with Him and watching over all of you.
We were blessed to have had her in our lives, and we send prayers, love and hugs to you all. I wish I could be there Saturday, but unfortunately am out of state. My prayers are with you all.
With love,
Nancy (MacElhiney) Kenney and Barbara MacElhiney

To Barbara's family,

Our daughter Morgan has attended the Weymouth
Exceptional Summer Program for years. Morgan
(and I dare say all of her friends) loved it
when Barbara would come in and work her Jazzercize magic with them. She loved the kids and we know they loved her.

Barbara will be missed by so many!

Our prayers are with you all.
