Gloria Fantasia Obituary

Gloria Fantasia QUINCY Gloria J. (Buccini) Fantasia, age 81, of Quincy, died peacefully at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth Sunday, December 28, 2008 after a long illness. She was born in Quincy, raised and educated in Quincy schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School. Mrs. Fantasia was a lifelong Quincy resident and a longtime summer resident of Dennisport. She was also a lifelong member of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Quincy. Mrs. Fantasia was employed as a case worker for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare in Quincy for forty-two years. In 1987 she received the Governors Performance Recognition Award from former Governor Michael Dukakis in recognition of her outstanding service. Gloria enjoyed traveling and had especially fond memories of an extended vacation to Italy with her late husband Ralph. She was an avid walker, completing five miles per day and also enjoyed gardening. Beloved wife of the late Ralph E. Fantasia Devoted mother of Stephen R. Fantasia and his wife Emilie V. (DiTullio) Fantasia of Abington, Jeffrey P. Fantasia and his wife Natasha S. (Cavanaugh) Fantasia of Quincy. Loving Grandmother of Jason Gross of Salem and Felicia Fantasia of Milton. Sister of Joseph Buccini and his wife Gail of Middleboro. Sister-in-law of Rose DOlimpio and her late husband Philip DOlimpio of Quincy. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy Saturday, January 3 at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy at 10 oclock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours Friday, 58 p.m. Interment Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. For those who wish, donations in Mrs. Fantasias memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
